A Little Bit About Me….

I was born in Orillia Ontario where I was raised by two amazing parents who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2011.  It was in London Ontario after my Dad’s transfer that I spent grades 8-13 graduating from Sir Wilfred Laurier Secondary School. Pastor Dan Shields along with Dr. Carl Seffiert mentored me during those years to confirm my calling to pastoral leadership while at  Glen Cairn Baptist Church.

I have been married to my wife Gwen now for 25 years and have 6 children, four of our own and two through marriage.  This year I am celebrating 30 years in church leadership.  I have a passion to mentor, coach and multiply leaders in the local church,  business and non profit sectors.

I graduated from Tyndale University College with a BTH (Bachelor of Theology) in 1986 while I was serving at Rosedale Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Gordon Stephens who was my mentor during my undergrad studies.  After graduation, Gwen and I were married and served in our first church together, Waverley Fellowship in Winnipeg Manitoba (1986-1994) where our four children were born.

From there we served once again as the lead pastoral couple at Burnett Fellowship in Maple Ridge B.C. (1994-1999).  I undertook a number of MDIV courses at Northwest Baptist Seminary.  From Maple Ridge we moved back to Ontario to lead Calvary Baptist Church in Guelph Ontario (1999-2008).

It was in Guelph that I was asked to become the Vice President of the Fellowship Baptists (www.fellowship.ca) developing networks in Leadership Development, Church Multiplication (church starts) and Church Health.  It was at this time that I switched from an MDIV program to an MBA Leadership program graduating from Liberty University.  During this time I continued to coach leaders both at the local church level, business leaders and consulting churches.  With transitions and a new direction at the National Fellowship, Gwen and I came to the conclusion that we were to be open to a new opportunity for local church ministry.

Since February 2011 we have been serving at Cedarview Alliance Church (www.cedarview.ca) as the Lead pastor in Nepean Ontario.   Since I made a certain milestone this year I felt it was a good time to put up a website to assist leaders both in business and in the local church.   I am a certified life and leadership coach and have developed a life coaching training course with three colleagues called Compass Coaching International (www.compasscoachinginternational.com) .  I am working toward a PHD in Organizational Leadership and Consulting.  My greater purpose is to Be Courageous for His Mission and to leave a legacy of Spiritual Servant Sacrificial Leadership.
